CartTotal is a shopping list app with live budget tracking. This policy explains what information the app stores, what leaves your device, and why. The short version: your shopping lists, prices and budgets stay on your phone. The app sends anonymous usage and crash data to Google Firebase, and shows ads through Google AdMob.
The following is stored only on your device and is never uploaded by the app:
You can delete all of it at any time with Settings → Erase all data, or by uninstalling the app. There is no account and no sign-in.
The app records which features are used, for example "list created", "trip finished" or "list shared". These events do not include the contents of your lists, item names or prices. Firebase also receives standard device information: device model, operating system version, app version, language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address by Google. Purpose: understanding which features are used so the app can be improved.
If the app crashes, a report containing the crash stack trace, device model, OS version and app state at the time is sent to Firebase. Purpose: finding and fixing bugs.
The app fetches configuration values and a catalog of typical grocery prices for your currency from Firebase. This is a download only; your own data is not sent. A Firebase installation identifier is used to make these requests.
CartTotal is free and supported by ads served by Google AdMob. When an ad is shown, Google receives standard ad-request information such as device type, OS version, IP address, and the ad unit being requested.
On iOS, the app asks for permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you allow tracking, Google may use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to show personalized ads. If you decline, the identifier is not shared and you receive non-personalized ads. Either way, the app works exactly the same.
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app shows a consent form before requesting ads, as required by Google's EU User Consent Policy. You can change your choice later from within the app if a privacy options entry is offered, or through your device's tracking settings.
Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. AdMob may work with third-party ad partners; the current list is published by Google at AdMob ad technology providers.
When you use the share button, the app hands a plain-text copy of that list to the app you choose (WhatsApp, Messages, email, and so on). This only happens when you start it, and only for the list you chose. The app has no server and never sends your lists anywhere on its own.
The app does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, photos or precise location.
CartTotal is not directed at children under 13, and the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data stored on your device remains until you erase it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data held by Google is retained according to Google's own retention settings for Firebase.
If the app starts collecting different data, this page will be updated and the effective date changed. Material changes will also be noted in the app's update notes.
